The ASHP Foundation, is the philanthropic arm of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The Foundation aims to support the society by advancing the professional practice of pharmacists and pharmacy workforce by funding research and education to improve health outcomes through optimal, safe, and effective medication use.
The foundation invites applications for its Pharmacy Residency Expansion grant program, which supports ASHP's efforts to prepare the pharmacy workforce by expanding the number and diversity of residency positions.
Supported by Merck, the program awards $25,000 grants to assist institutions offering a new or expanded residency position. Institutions applying for the grant agree to secure supplemental funds. The opportunity is open for both PGY1 pharmacy residency training and for PGY2 pharmacy residency training.
The Pharmacy Residency Expansion Grant Program supports ASHP's efforts to help prepare the pharmacist workforce by expanding the number and diversity of residency positions. Since the program's inception in 2011, the ASHP Foundation has awarded over $3.7 million to create 111 new residency positions.
Nonprofit organizations, for-profit entities, and government agencies are eligible to apply. If a for-profit entity or government agency is a grant recipient, the monetary award provided by the foundation must be received and managed by a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Applicant organizations must be in the United States to be eligible for the grant.
